BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PrismTech™, a global leader in software platforms for distributed systems, will be hosting a free webcast, “DDS Applicability to Industrie 4.0 and IIC Reference Architectures” on Sept. 7, 2016. The live webcast will be presented by Angelo Corsaro, Ph.D., CTO of ADLINK and PrismTech, a widely recognized leading expert in high performance distributed systems.
Industrie 4.0 and the Industrial Internet Consortium® (IIC) are working to systematically decompose the needs of Industrial Internet systems and define a reference architecture that promotes the desired operational concepts. This endeavor has been focused on Smart Factories for Industrie 4.0, while IIC has addressed generic Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) systems.
Their reference architectures, RAMI 4.0 and IIRA, have identified the key technical requirements and some standards that address them.
“This has been a much-debated issue,” Corsaro said. “At times, however, the discussion on applicability leaned toward ecosystem interest, technological protectionism and, in some cases, a misunderstanding of what a technology such as the Object Management Group’s® (OMG®) Data-Distribution Service™ (DDS™) really is or can do.”
The webcast will introduce the key concepts behind RAMI 4.0 and IIRA, introduce the architectural patterns and the key requirements at the foundation of RAMI 4.0 and IIRA as well as their similarities and differences, and explain how the DDS standard can be used to help implement RAMI 4.0 and IIRA compliant architectures.
The webcast follows on from Corsaro’s DDS and OPC UA comparison webcast earlier in the year, which drew a large and engaged audience. Registration for the hour-long webcast, scheduled for 9 am EDT and repeated at 2 pm EDT September 7, is available at http://www.prismtech.com/webcast-signup.
