ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--By Light Professional IT Services, Inc. has announced the appointment of Steve Kastin, MD as Chief Medical Officer and Healthcare IT Strategist. A Nuclear Medicine physician by training, Dr. Kastin brings his vast experience in healthcare informatics and healthcare information technology (IT) to By Light by way of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
During his time with the VA, Dr. Kastin served in a number of leadership roles, including Director of Diagnostic Services at the Bronx VA Medical Center, Chief Health Informatics Officer and Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the VA New York/New Jersey Healthcare Network (VISN 3), and Chief Healthcare IT Strategist for the VA’s national Office of Information and Technology. Dr. Kastin acted as Chair of the VA’s Radiology Informatics Committee for many years, along with several other national committees including the VA’s Informatics and Data Management Committee. In addition to the aforementioned accomplishments, he has lectured on topics ranging from medical applications of real-time location systems to the use of “big data,” predictive analytics, and the ever-increasing need for effective information security.
