Popularity Surges for Repurposing PCs as VDI Endpoints, with 80% Savings vs. Thin Clients

Sales of Stratodesk NoTouch software jump 50% as major companies ink bigger deals

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Organizations want to simplify endpoint management by switching to virtual desktops, keeping sensitive information off endpoints for greater security. “That’s why we’re seeing more and bigger virtual desktop deals in 2016,” says Emanuel Pirker, CEO at Stratodesk. “Sales of our Stratodesk NoTouch software are 50 percent higher than the year before.”

Organizations achieve a variety of benefits with NoTouch, Pirker adds. It enabled Clal Group, a leading Israeli insurer, to quickly repurpose 1,500 desktops as VDI endpoints, saving 80 percent compared to the cost of switching to thin clients. The IT team uses NoTouch to remotely manage VDI endpoints at five company sites, and the team has the flexibility to add thin clients, PCs or laptops from any vendor as needed. NoTouch is hardware-agnostic, avoiding vendor lock-in.

NoTouch is also a lean, Linux-based operating system, letting IT teams eliminate Windows on VDI endpoints and minimize cost and risk.

In Rhode Island, South County Health used NoTouch to repurpose more than 1,000 PCs as VDI endpoints at 15 sites. “Stratodesk reduced our endpoint replacement budget by 40 percent,” says Ken Hedglen, manager of technology at South County.

NoTouch is easy to deploy. A leading retail chain used it to repurpose 7,000 PCs as VDI endpoints in just one weekend. This was timely, because a major desktop vendor’s PC repurposing software had not worked as needed.
