Grant Thornton achieves HITRUST CSF Assessor designation for health care organizations

CHICAGO--()--Grant Thornton LLP today announced that it has been designated as a HITRUST CSF Assessor by the Health Information Trust Alliance (HITRUST).

With this achievement, Grant Thornton is now approved to provide services using the HITRUST CSF, a comprehensive privacy and security framework that addresses the multitude of security, privacy and regulatory challenges facing health care organizations in order to comply with health care (HIPAA, HITECH), third-party (PCI, COBIT) and government (NIST, FTC) regulations and standards. The designation strengthens Grant Thornton’s growing cyber risk strategy and management offering.

CSF Assessors are critical to helping uphold information security and privacy standards for the health care industry and a core component of the HITRUST CSF program by providing trained resources to health care organizations of varying size and complexity – helping them assess compliance with security control requirements and document corrective action plans that align with the CSF.

“Leveraging the CSF framework is vital for the health care industry and – thanks to this designation from HITRUST – we can provide a tremendous enhancement to the distinctive client service we already provide,” said David Reitzel, a partner in Grant Thornton’s Health Care Advisory Services practice.

“We are pleased to have Grant Thornton as a CSF Assessor to help health care organizations with the process of adopting and utilizing the CSF's requirements and give their customers confidence in the protection of their information,” said Ken Vander Wal, chief compliance officer, HITRUST. "The company’s long-standing expertise and leadership in health IT privacy and security solutions make it a perfect addition to our program.”
