Men’s Journal and Victorinox Swiss Army Announce First Annual National Day of Adventure on October 14, 2016

NEW YORK--()--Men’s Journal and Victorinox Swiss Army today announced National Day of Adventure #NDOA, a new holiday dedicated to getting outside and tackling a new challenge. This day offers a great opportunity to embark on a new experience and live life in the moment.

On Friday, October 14, 2016 we invite everyone to take the day and try something outside his or her comfort zone. From rafting and hiking to learning to surf and taking a motorcycle tour, on October 14, adults are encouraged to take a ‘skip day’ and do any fun, outdoor activity they have been delaying.

National Day of Adventure will include a myriad of hosted events around the U.S. in the following markets: New York City, New Jersey, Minneapolis, and Seattle to promote the thrill and freedom that comes with a new adventure. One event planned for New York City is an urban #GearDrop scavenger hunt. More events in additional markets will be posted soon on MensJournal.com/NDOA and other partners will be announced in the coming weeks.

With the launch of the September issue, Men’s Journal is featuring both print and digital editorial content offering ideas for the best single-day adventures in different parts of the country. Leading up to October 14th a dedicated National Day of Adventure hub on MensJournal.com will continuously be populated with additional adventure focused immersive stories and videos. Men’s Journal reaches a total print and digital audience of over 4.5 million, up 17% year-over-year from May 2015 to May 2016. (Sources: MRI Spring 2016 and comScore May 2016.)

“We are thrilled to partner with Victorinox, a brand that shares our passion for active exploration, for the first-ever National Day of Adventure,” said Jay Gallagher, Publisher of Men’s Journal. “This day is designed to inspire people around the country to achieve greater personal fulfillment and experience life beyond the ordinary.”

“Since 1891 with the introduction of the first Swiss Army Knife, Victorinox Swiss Army has been a trusted partner to generations of everyday and ultra-adventure seekers,” said Dennis Piretra, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Victorinox Swiss Army. “With the little red handle knife in your pocket you know you are prepared for any challenge that may come your way so you can focus on truly enjoying the moment. We’re excited to integrate 125 years of Swiss Army Knife preparedness into the inaugural National Day of Adventure with Men’s Journal and we look forward to celebrating everyone’s adventures large and small on October 14.”
