Welltower Names Matthew McQueen General Counsel and Corporate Secretary

TOLEDO, Ohio--()--Welltower Inc. (NYSE:HCN) today announced that Matthew McQueen, Senior Vice President - Legal has been promoted to Senior Vice President - General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. In this expanded role, Mr. McQueen will report to Jeffrey H. Miller, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO). The role of Corporate Secretary was vacated in July as a result of Erin C. Ibele’s retirement.

“Matt has a deep knowledge of Welltower and thorough understanding of the company's business from his time working for and advising the company,” said Welltower COO Jeffrey Miller. “Since Matt joined Welltower last year, he has proved to be an important legal advisor and has been involved with the company’s transactions, debt and equity offerings, Board of Directors and governance matters. His expanded role is a product of these efforts and his strong leadership.”

Mr. McQueen joined Welltower in April 2015 from Sidley Austin LLP (“Sidley”) in Chicago, where he served as a partner in their Corporate & Securities group. In his 11 years at Sidley, he led a substantial practice in mergers and acquisitions, working on domestic and global transactions for public and private companies in transactions ranging from several million to billions of dollars; corporate governance; public and private securities offerings and joint ventures. While at Sidley, Mr. McQueen represented Welltower in several transactions, including the company’s acquisition of Genesis HealthCare, Sunrise Senior Living, HealthLease and several joint ventures including Revera and Senior Resource Group.

Mr. McQueen holds a B.A. in English and History from Indiana University. He earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan.
