Innit Raises Additional $18 Million for Connected Food

Builds on partner momentum with Whirlpool Corporation, Pirch and Good Housekeeping

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--()--Innit®, a leading food tech innovator, today announced $18 million in new financing from founders and strategic investors to accelerate its growth, bringing its total funding to $43 million. In May, the company unveiled its Connected Food platform to power smart kitchen appliances, and announced partnerships earlier this year with Good Housekeeping, Pirch and Whirlpool Corporation. This new funding will build upon the company’s momentum since launch last year and further establish its leadership in the emerging smart kitchen market.

“For many busy families, cooking meals at home is too hard and too stressful,” said Eugenio Minvielle, president and founder of Innit. “The Innit team is passionate about connecting food information to the kitchen to make selecting, storing, preparing and cooking food easier and more joyful. Our mission is to empower people to eat and live better by giving food a voice.”

Innit, based in Redwood City, Calif., was founded in 2013 by senior executives from the food and technology sectors. Innit’s team of chefs, nutritionists and engineers use cutting-edge food science and technology to help people manage and prepare their food with ease. The Innit platform identifies and measures food using advanced technologies in the kitchen, recommends recipes based on inventory and executes expert cooking techniques through connected kitchen appliances to produce amazing results every time.

In June, Innit announced a partnership with Whirlpool Corporation to enable advanced automated cooking on their kitchen appliances, starting with Jenn-Air® brand WiFi connected wall ovens. Consumers can get a taste of the joint offering in live demos and cooking classes on Jenn-Air® products at the experiential Pirch retail showroom in SoHo, New York City. There are also plans to expand to other Pirch locations nationwide.

"We believe the kitchen is ripe for innovation to help us better understand our food and change the way in which we create meals," said Michael Wolf, chief analyst for NextMarket Insights and creator of the Smart Kitchen Summit. "Companies such as Innit are beginning to transform existing and well-understood kitchen products with powerful new features based on cutting edge technologies that, in our view, will help reshape food storage, preparation, recipe discovery and cooking in the consumer kitchen over the next decade."
