Domtar Supports Dryden Youth Soccer

DRYDEN, Ontario--()--The multi-use building at Rotary Park in Dryden has received some much needed funding from Domtar.

Bonny Skene made the cheque presentation to a group of youth soccer players at the Rotary Park soccer fields. Dryden Youth Soccer (DYS) fundraiser, Gary Nickle, outlined how pleased he is with Domtar’s support. “This is incredible! For the past several years, we have been fundraising for a multi-use building in order to add much needed shelter and additional washrooms to Rotary Park. Receiving $30,000 from Domtar gets us a big step closer to having the funds needed to complete the building.”

“We are very pleased to be a partner on this project,” said Bonny Skene Regional Public Affairs Manager at Domtar. “It is a legacy project which supports health and wellness in our community and it will benefit local soccer players and spectators of all ages.”

Rotary Park was established a number of years ago and has seen significant changes in the last ten years. The skate park was one of the initial recreational elements constructed, followed by three regulation size soccer fields and a set of washrooms. DYS is currently fundraising to construct a multi-use building adjacent to the soccer fields. The building would provide additional washrooms, change rooms, canteen, storage and a covered area to provide shelter from the elements.

Nickle added that they are in the process of finalizing the building plans with the architect and hopes to send the project out to tender in the coming weeks.
