Accenture Teams with Joint Base San Antonio Career Skills Program to Help Transition Service Members to Civilian Employment

Company’s recent $100,000 grant to training program further demonstrates commitment to hire 5,000 U.S. veterans and military spouses by 2020

SAN ANTONIO--()--Accenture Federal Services (AFS) is partnering with the 502d Air Base Wing Career Skills Program (CSP) at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) to help prepare soldiers for the transition from military to civilian employment.

The CSP, launched nationally in 2015 as part of the JBSA Transition Program, provides credentialing, training, apprenticeships and internships to active-duty service members who will soon be leaving military service. AFS will offer these men and women apprenticeships, on-the-job training, job shadowing and employment skills training, with the goal of helping them gain employment in the civilian sector – including at Accenture.

Additionally, as part of its Skills to Succeed initiative – which is equipping more than 3 million people around the world with the skills to get a job or build a business – Accenture recently made a $100,000 grant to NS2 Serves, a nonprofit founded by SAP National Security Services Inc. The NS2 program trains veterans for high-tech careers at no charge, which will help Accenture expand its hiring of veterans. Graduates of NS2 Serves earn a "Certified SAP Associate" status – a globally recognized certification that is highly valuable in many career paths.

AFS is actively hiring veterans at its San Antonio Technology and Innovation Center, including a number NS2 Serves program graduates in addition to many who have already received IT skills training by Accenture.

“Military veterans have the leadership, discipline and teamwork skills we look for and are an excellent fit with the important work we do for our federal government clients,” said David Moskovitz, Accenture Federal Services chief executive. “Our continued investments in the San Antonio Technology and Innovation Center and community create great career opportunities for people in the region, particularly the military community. By partnering with both CSP and NS2 Serves, we will help equip more veterans with the skills they need to transition to the civilian workforce and secure bright futures.”

Over the past year Accenture has added 300 new jobs at its Technology and Innovation Center in San Antonio—which is just marking its 10th anniversary – and expects the total number of Accenture Federal Services employees in San Antonio to reach nearly 1,300 by the end of this year. The San Antonio Business Journal this week named Accenture to its Best Places to Work in 2016 list.

“We are growing quickly and bringing more high-quality, career-building jobs to San Antonio to support some of the federal government’s most important programs,” said Ali Bokhari, director of Accenture’s Technology and Innovation Center in San Antonio. “We’ve expanded our tech and innovation hub here with our new building to serve even more clients and connect into Accenture’s global innovation network.”
