HomeServe Completes Acquisition of Utility Service Partners, Inc.

NORWALK, Conn.--()--HomeServe plc, parent company of HomeServe USA (HomeServe), a leading provider of home repair solutions, today announced the successful completion of HomeServe USA’s acquisition of Utility Service Providers, Inc. (USP), also a provider of home repair service plans for North American municipal and utility clients. HomeServe entered into a definitive agreement to acquire USP on March 31, 2016. Based in Canonsburg, PA, USP was founded in 2003 and has developed partnerships with 330 utilities, primarily through a strategic relationship with The National League of Cities (NLC). NLC is a resource and advocate for 19,000 cities, towns and villages across the United States.

“This is an important development for HomeServe that will strengthen our presence in the U.S. and Canada as well as expand the availability of our combined best-in-class services to municipal and investor owned utilities,” said Tom Rusin, CEO, HomeServe USA. “We are thrilled to welcome USP’s talented employees and look forward to their contribution to our business with their valuable expertise and knowledge of the marketplace.”

The combined businesses service over 2.7 million customers with over 4 million service plans, in 48 US States and Canada through 400 municipal and utility partnerships. USP and HomeServe share a common culture of putting the customer first and both have A+ ratings with the Better Business Bureau. Through this acquisition, HomeServe has acquired USP brands Service Line Warranties of America and Service Line Warranties of Canada. USP employees will continue to operate out of their current Canonsburg, PA office as part of HomeServe.

“We look forward to expanding our relationship with USP into a partnership with HomeServe” said Clarence Anthony, Executive Director of the NLC. “HomeServe’s values and commitment to the customer are directly in line with the type of support the NLC strives to provide our member communities. We believe that with the resources available through HomeServe, the NLC Service Line Warranty Program can be expanded to assist more homeowners from unexpected home emergencies that can arise.”

HomeServe acquired USP from Macquarie Capital and USP management. “We want to thank the USP team for their efforts and congratulate them on their success over the last few years. USP has built a market leading warranty business focused on municipalities,” said Tobias Bachteler, Co-Head of the US Principal Transactions Group at Macquarie Capital. “We appreciate HomeServe’s consistent execution of this transaction and wish both HomeServe and USP well.”
