Exelon Recognizes Top Financial and IT Services Business Partners for Diversity and Inclusion

This year Exelon adds IT services companies to the program

CHICAGO--()--As part of its commitment to promote diversity and inclusion among its business partners, Exelon has named 17 banks, insurance companies, professional services organizations and information technology (IT) services companies to its annual diversity and inclusion “honor roll” for demonstrating their dedication to these values in 2015.

The annual program, now in its sixth year, seeks to enhance the quality of service Exelon receives by encouraging contributions from minorities and women at its business partners. Exelon also continually improves its diversity and inclusion programs, and this year added Exelon IT as part of the combined Diversity and Inclusion Partnership Program, recognizing a broader scope of firms that support diversity in their day-to-day interactions with Exelon.

This year’s honorees are:

  • Banking: Northern Trust Company, Citibank, MUFG, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, BNP Paribas and Mizuho
  • Insurance: Aon, Beecher Carlson and Marsh
  • Professional Services: Ernst & Young, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Towers Watson
  • IT Services: Sath Inc., TATA America International, Pipeline Software and Hi-Tech Solutions

“Incorporating diversity into every aspect of Exelon’s business helps us identify new and innovative ways to solve business challenges and drive progress,” said Jack Thayer, senior executive vice president and chief financial officer at Exelon. “Through the honor roll program, we are able to strengthen our commitment to diversity and inclusion, and encourage our business partners to do the same.”

The program challenges participating financial services and IT partner firms to expand the diversity of their teams by evaluating the level of contributions made by women and minorities on the teams that serve Exelon, while providing them with incentives to improve their performance by demonstrating a shared commitment to diversity and inclusion. The program also evaluates the companies’ own diversity and inclusion initiatives and their improvement year-to-year.

“We are thrilled to be named to Exelon’s honor roll program for the second year in a row,” said Nichole Barnes Marshall, global head of diversity and inclusion at Aon. “This impressive recognition reflects Aon and Exelon’s shared values around diversity and inclusion. We believe that diverse backgrounds and perspectives drive insights that empower results for clients, colleagues and communities around the world.”

"We are delighted to be named to the Exelon Diversity and Inclusion Honor Roll," said Mike Donohue, managing director in Mizuho's Power and Utilities Group. "Diversity and inclusiveness play an important role in our corporate culture, and have been one of the distinguishing features that have underpinned our successful ongoing client relationship with Exelon.”

In a sign that the program is helping companies improve their diversity, the number of firms named to Exelon’s honor roll has more than doubled in just six years. This year, Exelon named one participating insurance firm, AEGIS Insurance Services, Inc., “most improved” for achieving the most progress in its diversity and inclusion performance from 2014 to 2015.

Exelon has several initiatives that help ensure it works with financial institutions that share its commitment to diversity and inclusion. In 2015, the company arranged $123 million in credit lines with 28 community- and minority-owned banks in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey. Exelon is also dedicated to working with diverse suppliers as part of its supply chain strategy, spending over $1.4 billion with minority and women-owned suppliers in 2015, a 27 percent increase over the previous year.
