SHANGHAI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As part of its global community engagement efforts, PPG (NYSE:PPG) has announced the completion of a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES™ project in Shanghai that helped to revitalize the fence and campus facilities of Yuyuan Road No.1 Primary School. The Colorful Communities program provides PPG volunteers and products along with financial contributions to bring color and vitality to communities where our company operates around the world. The program increases PPG’s commitment to invest in communities by adding $10 million to support efforts made during a 10-year period.
This project marked the third Colorful Communities project that PPG has completed in China as well as the one-year anniversary of the program’s official launch. It brought together more than 250 volunteers, including PPG employees and their families along with students and faculty of the Yuyuan Road No.1 Primary School and community representatives of the Changning District. They used MASTER’S MARK® paint by PPG to renovate the school’s exterior and interior fences as well as playground equipment. In addition, PPG sponsored refurbishing of the campus gate and metal fence and repainting of wooden shelves and sculptures.

After refurbishing the campus, PPG volunteers joined students of the school in activities to celebrate Children’s Day.

The Colorful Communities program is PPG’s signature initiative for community engagement efforts, with the aim to protect and beautify the neighborhoods where PPG operates around the world. Together with community partners and PPG employees who volunteer, the program supports projects that transform community assets using donated PPG products. In 2015, PPG completed 11 Colorful Communities projects, and it expects to complete about 30 more this year.
