HOUSTON--()--Total Safety, a leading global provider of integrated industrial safety services, recently hosted its 19th Annual “Helping HEROES Charity Golf Tournament,” and donated $180,000 in proceeds to three benefiting charities: Combat Marine Outdoors, Sky High for St. Jude, and Krysta’s Karing Angels. The tournament was held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 in the stunning environment of La Cantera Hill Country Resort in San Antonio, Texas. Checks were presented to the benefiting charities during a Welcome Reception the evening before the tournament.

What started as a small, four-team tournament in 1988 has grown to become one of the industries’ premiere charity tournaments in Texas, with more than 75 teams and 300+ participants. Proceeds from tournament sponsorships help support “heroes” whose mission is to improve the lives of children, families, and service men and women. Since its inception in 1988, Total Safety has donated nearly $800,000 to charities from proceeds of the tournament.

“Supporting our local communities is core to our values at Total Safety,” said Paul Tyree, Chief Operating Officer for Total Safety. “This tournament not only gives us the opportunity to bring some of the industries’ leading companies and individuals together for a day of networking and recreation, it also has purpose, meaning, and benefits three outstanding organizations. We are honored to be a part of helping these organizations succeed in their missions to help wounded veterans, children suffering from cancer and other life-threatening diseases, and families who have lost a loved one to a drunk driver.”

The 20th anniversary of the Helping HEROES Charity Golf Tournament will take place on May 23, 2017 in New Orleans, LA, and Total Safety’s goal is to raise a minimum of $200,000 to reach the $1MM mark in cumulative donations.

The Helping HEROES Charity Golf Tournament is made possible thanks to the generous support of its sponsors. Some of the 2016 sponsors included: MSA (Title Sponsor), Sunbelt Rentals (Title Sponsor), Turner Industries, Flextek, JOB Industrial Services, Valero Refining, Avis, Honeywell, ExxonMobil, Phillips 66, Dupont, Citgo Refining, JPMorgan Chase, HollyFrontier Refining, LyondellBasell, Tesoro Refining, Monroe Energy, and more.
