COMMERCE CITY, Colo.--()--Sashco, a Colorado-based manufacturer of high-performance caulks, sealants, and log home stains and finishing products, is celebrating its 80th anniversary this month.

Founded in 1936 as Colorado Steel Sash Company, founder Donald Burch started making non-messy window putty called Elasti-glaze one bucket at a time. The company continued to innovate and launch new products and patents for items such as caulking guns, windows and even a slide rule designed for navigation.

Today, Sashco’s locally made products are used by professional contractors and DIYers and are sold nationwide in retail stores such as Lowe’s, Ace Hardware and independently owned hardware stores. They are also available online.

“As we approach this major milestone, we are grateful to our employees and our loyal customers who have built this company and supported us through our evolution,” said Les Burch, president of Sashco and the founder’s son. “It’s because of them that we’ve been able to not only stay in business, but thrive. We look forward to the next 80 years, partnering with our customers to ensure the ongoing growth and vitality of our company.”

Sashco has a rich Colorado history and is experiencing strong growth with sales up double digits over last year. It’s continuing on a major growth trajectory, looking to pass the $50 million revenue mark by 2018. More than 100 employees work in the Commerce City plant, just northeast of Denver, where all products are manufactured and shipped nationwide, as well as to several foreign countries.

The company recently launched a Contractor Partner Program and new website, LogsAintWood.com. The program is designed to give homeowners a trusted online resource for reviewing log home contractors, provide skilled contractors a space to showcase their experience and portfolios, and then connect the two – all with the simple click of a button.

Les Burch and both of his sons currently work for the company. The eventual plan is to transition it to Burch’s sons, making Sashco a third-generation family-owned business, a legacy that is extremely rare today.

About Sashco, Inc.

For 80 years now, Colorado-based Sashco has been driven by a passion to make products that work right the first time. Like you, we get frustrated by the screwdriver that bends or tires that wear out too soon. That's why we only make high-performance caulks, sealants and stains that professionals stake their reputations on and DIYers trust to get the job done right. At Sashco, you won’t find a good-better-best mindset. Best is the name of the game. Why? To help prevent needless frustration and avoid the need to re-do the same project again and again because the product wasn't up for the job. (Hint: Your caulk shouldn't crack!) We like to call it "delighting the customer with a better way." Learn more about how to make your next caulking or log home finishing project frustration-free on our Sashco Blog and Log Blog.
