Shopkick Names Former Turn and Yahoo! Exec Bill Demas, as CEO

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--()--Shopkick, the leading shopping app that makes in-store shopping more rewarding, personal and enjoyable, announced today that Bill Demas has been named shopkick’s Chief Executive Officer, effective June 6, 2016.

“Shopkick has done an excellent job of creating the leading consumer mobile shopping platform, and it’s this foundation that I hope to build and scale as CEO,” said Bill Demas, CEO, shopkick. “I’m excited for the outstanding growth potential of the company, with its expanding user base, best-in-class technology, and blue chip roster of retail and brand partners.”

The hire comes at a time when shopkick is experiencing tremendous growth in its consumer base, 23 million active users per month (source: Nielsen), nearly triple since its acquisition by SK Planet in October 2014. The company also announced recently new video and purchase reward features, along with new key hires to the leadership team, and integration of a new content discovery platform, further positioning the company for continued growth into 2017 and beyond.

Demas comes to shopkick from ad-tech platform Turn, where as CEO he drove exponential revenue growth and oversaw company expansion to 20 locations across five continents over the course of his six-and-a-half-year tenure. With his extensive experience scaling integrated platforms across multiple media and device formats, Demas will be instrumental in fueling shopkick’s growth across Retail, Brand and Data businesses.

“The Board of Directors searched for over six months to find the right person to lead shopkick through the transition from start-up to household name,” said Mike Lunsford, a member of the board of directors and the former interim CEO. “Bill brings years of experience building high performance teams, developing go-to-market product strategies and growing company valuations from single-to-triple digit ‘millions.’ We couldn’t be more confident in his ability to take shopkick to the next level and position the company for success in the years to come.”

Shopkick is available for free on the iPhone from the App Store and for Android from Google Play.
