The Fertilizer Institute’s 4R Summit Kicks Off Soon

WASHINGTON--()--The Fertilizer Institute’s annual 4R Summit kicks off at 8:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 15th at the Hilton Indianapolis Hotel and Suites, 120 West Market Street, in Indianapolis, Ind. It is open to farmers, agribusiness professionals and other stakeholders nationwide. Meeting registration and hotel reservations are available at the 4R website, nutrientstewardship.org, or by calling 800-315-1906. An agenda is available online.

The two-day event is an opportunity for those using and those interested in implementing the 4R nutrient stewardship practices to share ideas, learn from award-winning farmers, agribusiness leaders and conservation experts. The 4Rs help growers meet production and environmental goals by choosing the right nutrient source to apply at the right rate in the right place at the right time.

Sessions begin with an overview of the 4R strategic plan and the industry’s commitment to it, followed by a discussion on how to implement the plan and the science behind 4R stewardship practices.

Growers from around the country who have been recognized as 4R Advocates by TFI for their superior use of the 4R principles will share how the practices work on their farms. They will demonstrate how the 4Rs benefit their crop production, soil and crop health, the environment and their communities.

Additional presenters include: Chase Koch, Koch Agronomic Services; Marty Adkins, Steve Davis, Mark Smith, and Norm Widman, National Resources Conservation Service; Matt Helmers, Iowa State University; Ton Vyn, Purdue University; Nathan Nelson, Kansas State University; Wayne Honeycutt, Soil Health Institute and Scott Murrell, International Plant Nutrition Institute.

“The 4R Summit offers growers and agribusiness leaders opportunities to share and better understand the innovative, 4R management agricultural practices that address the need for greater food production and sound environmental stewardship,” said Chris Jahn, TFI president. “We encourage all growers, retailers and others who are interested to attend and participate in the panel discussions and meetings.”

The summit will conclude at noon, Thursday, June 16. Registration is $150 and a group room rate is available at the hotel.
