WEST ELM TO OPEN FIRST IDAHO STORE IN DOWNTOWN BOISE

Retailer Showcases Regional Makers and Artisans

BROOKLYN, N.Y.--()--Home furnishings retailer West Elm announced today that it will open its first Idaho store in downtown Boise on Thursday, June 9 at 10 a.m., bringing approximately 30 new jobs to the area. The 14,158-square-foot-store features West Elm’s unique fall assortment for modern living as well as a signature Design Lab with complimentary design services.

Rooting itself in Boise, West Elm incorporated wooden “Tater Blocks” salvaged from the renovation of Simplot’s Caldwell-based potato storage facility into the store’s custom interior design. The blocks, once used as industrial flooring for potato storage facilities, have been repurposed to create a unique art installation at the new store.

“We are honored to incorporate materials representing the region’s unique agricultural heritage into our first Idaho store,” says West Elm president Jim Brett. “And we look forward to learning more about Idaho’s culture by contributing to the renewed vibrancy of Boise’s historic downtown.”

To celebrate the opening, West Elm partnered with Boise-based artist Ladybug Press to design an exclusive tote bag, which will be gifted to the first 300 shoppers with a $50 minimum purchase. Additional store opening activities include a sweepstakes* offering local customers a chance to win a $2,000 gift card and an invitation to a private pre-opening celebration on Wednesday, June 8 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. to benefit Global Gardens Boise.
