Women Led iTalent Launches the Girls Leadership Academy to Create More Female Leaders in Business

In an effort to break cultural barriers early, women in the tech industry come together to inspire girls ages 8-12 to become business leaders

SAN JOSE, Calif.--()--iTalent Corporation (http://italentcorp.com/), a global digital transformation services and cloud integration company, is proud to announce its first Girl’s Leadership Academy Meetup (GLAM) to introduce young women to the world of tech through education, inspiration, and mentorship. GLAM will focus on equipping girls ages 8 through 12 with leadership skills and the confidence to pursue careers in tech.

Through a variety of hands-on workshops, these aspiring entrepreneurs will learn how to launch a start-up business and will be given the tools to thrive and succeed both at school and in their future chosen professions, all the while practicing valuable networking skills. Ultimately, the camp is designed to show these girls the possibilities available to them, and that they can be of true influence in within the industry.

More and more, camps are emerging to provide exposure to the world of tech, keeping a keen focus on skill building, such as coding or software development. GLAM builds on the success of these initiatives while having a more pronounced emphasis on leadership. In addition to workshops designed to give exposure to tech, the overall model of GLAM focuses on building the confidence and skill set to empower future leaders that will create and lead companies.

Among the women gathered to speak and mentor is Sanyin Siang, Executive Director of Coach K. “There are so many societal views about women, and that’s why I decided to be part of this initiative. I had my own opinions on it, but I was just watching it happen. To empower and encourage one another, we have to be fully engaged in what it is they do. It can’t be something we do from the sidelines.”

Others to speak at GLAM include:

  • Renee La Londe - CEO and Founder of iTalent Corporation
  • Lisa Hotran - Director of Operations and Global Strategy, Chief of Staff to Chief Diversity Office at Intel
  • Kin Chin Wu - SVP and Operations Architecture at Cisco
  • Khloe Thompson - The 8 Year Old Mastermind of Khloe Kares
  • Aparna Singhal - Director of Sales Operations at Google
  • Leila Pourhashemi - Head of Product Operations at eBay
  • Jennifer Cashman - Director of Portfolio and Program Management at Veritas
  • Elissa Shevinsky - Founder of Glimpse Labs and JeKuDo
  • Cindy Lain - Senior Director of Engineering at Veritas

iTalent is proud to sponsor this free, two-day immersive program in Silicon Valley to 30 young girls, ages 8 - 12, to emphasize just how important it is that they gain exposure to the tech industry, and establish a sense of confidence and leadership.

“It’s a project very near and dear to my heart,” says Renee La Londe. “It’s so important that these young girls know how to work together, to build each other up and empower one another. I hope they are able to see these strong and successful women in the business and be inspired to reach for their own dreams.”
