Guidance Software Introduces EnCase Forensic 8 and New Tableau Forensic Products

New and enhanced features bring greater efficiency and accuracy to investigations

PASADENA, Calif.--()--Guidance Software, makers of EnCase®, the gold standard for forensic investigations and security, today announced the upcoming release of EnCase Forensic 8. Available in late June, EnCase Forensic 8 will feature Project VIC integration, investigation workflows, improved reporting, and multiple customer-driven enhancements. Guidance also announced updates to its Tableau™ line of forensic hardware.

Guidance will be demonstrating EnCase Forensic 8 and the Tableau forensic hardware products at Enfuse 2016, May 23 – 26, 2016 at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas.

EnCase Forensic is the trusted standard in criminal investigations and accepted in courts around the world. The latest version will feature built-in integration with the Project VIC hash library of known victims of child exploitation. Integration with Project VIC through Griffeye enables users to quickly identify known victims and focus their efforts on finding the unknown victims. EnCase Forensic users will be able to contribute their findings to Project VIC, helping the entire community.

“I’m pleased to have an influential and well-established player like Guidance Software fully on board the Project VIC ecosystem,” said Johann Hofmann, director and head of Griffeye. “This will have a big impact on forensic investigators, who will be able to seamlessly process and analyze data. Leveraging the Project VIC data model to enable an integrated workflow between EnCase and Griffeye Analyze means users can now share data with a simple button click and more easily highlight critical clues.”

EnCase Forensic 8 will also feature new investigation workflows that enable examiners of any skill level to easily complete common tasks associated with a triage or comprehensive investigation.

Customer-Driven Usability Improvements

EnCase Forensic 8 will deliver the usability investigators have been requesting. This includes default conditions, improved reporting, updated support for internet artifacts, and enhanced bookmarking capabilities.

“Guidance Software users are passionate experts in forensic investigation, and their feedback plays a central role in driving our product development,” said Ken Basore, senior vice president, product engineering, Guidance Software. “Digital investigators need greater connectivity and performance to keep pace with their rising caseloads and the constant introduction of new digital devices that are relevant to investigations. The upcoming release of EnCase Forensic 8 and Tableau capabilities are the results of our ongoing dialogue with customers.”

Tableau

Guidance is also introducing multiple additions and enhancements to its Tableau hardware products. The product line includes duplicators, forensic bridges, hardware accelerators, software, and peripheral devices.

New additions include:

  • Tableau Forensic Universal Bridge – An integrated write-blocker that offers the broadest range of storage media support to enable forensic investigators and examiners to quickly image many different types of suspect drives.
