CEP America Expands and Renews Partnership with Dignity Health’s St. Mary’s Medical Center and Saint Francis Medical Center for Hospitalist Services

EMERYVILLE, Calif.--()--In a move that will help better meet patient and organizational needs, CEP America announced today that as of July 1 it will significantly expand its partnership with Dignity Health St. Mary’s Medical Center, and renew its relationship with Dignity Health Saint Francis Memorial Hospital, both in San Francisco.

CEP America will continue to provide inpatient care at Saint Francis, and will be adding a hospitalist program at St. Mary’s Medical Center as well as serving as faculty for its internal medicine residency program. CEP America currently manages the Emergency Medicine program at both facilities. The new agreement allows for greater care coordination and collaboration and will help to better meet the needs of the surrounding communities.

“Healthcare organizations today are striving to create more coordinated, integrated and team based care to meet every stage of patients’ healthcare needs,” said Michael Carter, interim president of St. Mary’s Medical Center. “CEP America has long been recognized for its leadership in emergency medicine, and is now bringing that same commitment and expertise to our hospitalist program. We’re looking forward to working in partnership at both hospitals to ensure we continue to deliver care that exceeds patient expectations.”

CEP America is a physician-owned and operated healthcare company that works with hospitals to integrate patient care across the acute care continuum, while improving clinical outcomes and patient experience.

Similar to Saint Francis, a cornerstone of the hospitalist program for St. Mary’s will be close collaboration with community physicians to ensure seamless transitions from hospitalist physicians back to the patient’s primary care provider.

“CEP America hospitalists provide inpatient acute care and consultative expertise for our subspecialty physician colleagues because we believe in the importance of supporting community physicians’ efforts to improve patient health and care continuity,” said Dr. Surinder Yadav, a practicing hospitalist and vice president of CEP America. “We are committed to working with local physicians to ensure they are aware of what is happening with their patients while hospitalized so that upon discharge, they can seamlessly transition back to their primary care physician or internist.”

Physicians who have worked with CEP America hospitalists at Saint Francis confirm the collaborative approach of CEP America’s physicians. “The hospitalists I work with at Saint Francis always promptly inform me when a patient has been admitted and ensure a follow-up appointment gets scheduled with me after discharge,” says Dr. Andrew Wang, an internist in Nob Hill. “It has been a pleasure to work with them.”
