Media Advisory: Tide Brings Laundry Service Relief to Evacuees Affected by Fort McMurray Fires

LEDUC, Alberta--()--WHO: Services available to all families or individuals who have been displaced from their homes and emergency services workers who are in need of laundry services in the wake of the Fort McMurray fires.

WHAT: Beginning Saturday, May 14th, Tide will be working to assist those currently displaced by the Fort McMurray fires. The Tide Loads of Hope services will allow those displaced from Fort McMurray and workers to drop off their laundry to be washed, dried and folded, free of charge. The services will be free to all evacuees, responders and their families.

Tide will be partnering with Days Inn Hotel (5705 50 Street, Leduc, Alberta) to offer free washes at the adjacent laundromat and detergent on Saturday, May 14th from 8:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m., through to Friday, May 20th from 8:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. Because of infrastructure limitations, we ask that only essential items be washed and no bedding, jackets, or other large pieces will be accepted. The current limit is two loads per family, for service updates follow us on Twitter @Tide and visit Facebook.com/Tide.

Tide Loads of Hope was created in 2005 to provide much needed free laundry services to families affected by Hurricane Katrina. Inspired by the resilience and spirit of the people of New Orleans, Tide was driven to expand the Loads of Hope program and has since helped families across Canada and the US affected by disaster. The Loads of Hope laundry program came to Canada for the first time in June 2013 following the Alberta floods. Collectively, Tide has washed more than 60,000 loads for more than 40,000 families impacted by disasters since the program launched.

WHY: The recent wild fires have devastated Fort McMurray and have forced many residents from their homes, leaving them without basic needs and resources. P&G has a history of giving back to the communities where we live and work, and we wanted to provide the comforts of home to those who need it most. These services are free and available to people affected by the disaster and the volunteers that are helping to respond.
