NFL Partners with Violence Prevention Organization A CALL TO MEN to Train Washington, DC-Area Coaches to Build Young Men of Character and Prevent Violence against Women

A CALL TO COACHES features the NFL’s Troy Vincent, former Washington Redskins players James Thrash and Eddie Mason, local coaching legend Bill McGregor, NFL Vice President of Wellness and Clinical Services Dwight Hollier, and Neil Irvin, executive director of Men Can Stop Rape

WASHINGTON--()--Registration is open for A CALL TO COACHES, a FREE educational training event where coaches are empowered to build young men of character, to promote healthy, respectful manhood, and to decrease violence and discrimination against women and girls.

   

WHO:

A CALL TO COACHES – Washington, DC, will feature:

TROY VINCENT, executive vice president of NFL football operations and a former player for the Washington Redskins, speaking on how sports helped him overcome domestic violence as a child and inspired his commitment to use sports to build young men of character today.

Former Washington Redskins players JAMES THRASH and EDDIE MASON, and NEIL IRVIN, executive director of Men Can Stop Rape, speaking about the importance of engaging men in the development of boys, and sharing personal stories of men who played a critical role in their development and impacted their lives.

COACH BILL McGREGOR, 2004 NFL High School Coach of the Year, local legend, and head coach of the famous DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland, speaking with the NFL’s Vice President of Wellness and Clinical Services DWIGHT HOLLIER, on how to maximize your impact as a coach on and off the field.

TONY PORTER, co-founder of A CALL TO MEN and international leader on issues of masculinity, male socialization and its intersection with violence, and preventing violence against all women and girls, conducting the educational training portion of the program.

 

WHAT:

A CALL TO COACHES is designed for coaches, athletic directors, educators, school administrators, mentors, fathers, faith leaders, youth workers or any concerned man. Attendees will be educated on and given A CALL TO MEN’s proprietary LIVERESPECT Coaching Healthy & Respectful Manhood Curriculum. It promotes healthy, respectful manhood; decreases language and actions that degrade women, girls and other marginalized groups; challenges harmful cultural and social norms; and decreases instances of bullying and homophobia.
