MIAMI--()--Brightstar Corp., the world’s largest specialized wireless distributor and a leader in innovation and diversified services for the wireless industry, announced today that Alan Eland has joined the company as Chief Operating Officer, effective May 2.

Eland will oversee Brightstar’s Information Technology, service delivery and logistics initiatives, and will report to President and CEO, Jaymin B. Patel. Globally, he will be responsible for aligning all IT and service delivery platforms across the company’s six continents of operation.

This is a critical role leading the functions at the foundation for Brightstar’s services to provide a competitive advantage for our carrier, retailer, device manufacturer and enterprise customers. Global operations, under Eland’s leadership, will strengthen and support Brightstar’s continued focus and investment in platforms that support our services across the entire mobile device value chain such as supply chain, buyback & trade-in programs, forward and reverse logistics, financing and leasing, device protection and much more.

He joins Brightstar from IGT Corporation (formerly GTECH S.p.A.), the world's leading end-to-end gaming company, where he held several global and regional leadership roles over a 31-year career. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President, Global Services. Additionally, he previously served as COO of GTECH Americas, overseeing operations in North America and Latin America.
