Pieces Tech Announces Strategic Initiative with Baylor Scott & White Health

Baylor Scott & White Health to Deploy Pieces™ Software and Invest in Pieces Technologies, Inc.

DALLAS--()--Pieces Technologies today announced a major strategic initiative with Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH) to deploy its Pieces Decision Support software. Additionally, BSWH has invested in Pieces Tech’s recently announced Series A, providing a multi-hospital environment for further expansion, incubation and development of Pieces software and services.

“Baylor Scott & White Health is one of the most innovative health care systems in the United States, with inspiring performance across broad indicators of quality, safety and patient experience. We are honored to overlay our technology across BSWH’s hospitals to further its clinical mission and goals,” says Ruben Amarasingham, MD, CEO of Pieces Technologies.

First launched in 2013, the Pieces platform provides robust decision support throughout the care continuum. The software “reads” electronic medical records in real-time and identifies, predicts, and suggests approaches to care at the patient-level, taking into account social determinants of health and organizational capacities. Pieces Tech has also developed a semi-automated consulting service that reviews patient care records and suggests physician-reviewed pathway modifications, clinical workflow improvements, and structural changes to promote higher performance and rapid organizational learning.

“What struck us at BSWH was the comprehensive nature of the Pieces platform, particularly the ability to match individual patient needs with organizational and community resources,” said Andrew Masica, MD, MSCI, Chief Clinical Effectiveness Officer from Baylor Scott & White Health. “We also view our relationship with Pieces Tech as an opportunity to contribute to the development of a health care delivery system-health information technology industry regional collaborative.”
