BORON, Calif.--()--Rio Tinto Minerals’ (RTM) 20 Mule Team Borax fertilizers are featured in an upcoming episode of American Farmer, airing May 3 on RFD-TV. Viewers can watch a sneak peak of the episode on borax.com.

In this episode, American Farmer travels to California for a behind-the-scenes look at how the global mining and refining company operates California's largest open pit mine in the Mohave Desert - one of the richest borate deposits on the planet.

Viewers are educated on how boron is vital to fertilization, fruit, and seed production. While boron is present everywhere in the environment, substantial deposits of borates are relatively rare.

The episode also includes Kelly Nelson, Ph.D., a research agronomist and plant sciences professor at the University of Missouri who led independent corn trials that investigated the impact of the soluble boron source Granubor® 2 compared to granular ulexite.

The studies, conducted by third-party researchers during the 2012-14 seasons in mid-western United States, yielded valuable data demonstrating the improved performance of Granubor® 2, despite severe drought and suboptimal growing conditions.

“Our 20 Mule Team Borax products of Granubor 2, Solubor and Fertibor are recognized worldwide for their performance, quality, technical support, research data, and supply reliability,” says Paul Fink, Sales Manager for Rio Tinto Minerals. “Our participation in the American Farmer series compliments our commitment to the agricultural industry.”
