PISCATAWAY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--IEEE, the world’s largest professional organization advancing technology for humanity, today announced its schedule of exclusive pre-conference activities and special on-site opportunities at the annual IEEE Women in Engineering International Leadership Conference (WIE ILC). WIE ILC is being held 23-24 May 2016 at the San Jose Convention Center, San Jose, California.
Building upon the theme for the 2016 conference, “Lead Beyond: Accelerating Women Who Change the World,” organizers of the WIE ILC provide multiple opportunities to inspire, engage, and advance women in engineering. From the start-up business owner, to the mid-career woman seeking a change, to the tech enthusiast hoping to hone their skills, the WIE ILC delivers networking and educational opportunities even before the live conference kick-off on 23 May 2016.

Live Online Google Hangout: “Women Who: Lead. Engage. Inspire.” to be held 26 April 2016 at 1 pm ET. This interactive panel of leaders with backgrounds in both university and technology sectors will speak candidly about how they are paving the way for a future of women engineers through leadership, mentoring, and investing in themselves. Hosted by WIE ILC Founder and Chair, IEEE Senior Member, Nita Patel, featuring Dr. Ramalatha Marimuthu, Head of the Department of Information Technology in the Kumaraguru College of Technology; Prof. Takako Hashimoto, Chiba University of Commerce; and Roxsana Hadjizadeh, Cisco. Start-Up Pitch Competition: Hosted by conference partner, Amazon, a prestigious panel of Venture Capitalists, including NVP, Khosla, and Alchemist Accelerator, alongside corporate investors will judge six pre-selected startups and offer a cash prize of $2500. Attendees will have an opportunity to receive specific feedback from industry experts on their business pitches. Cisco-IEEE Micro-Hackathon: Cisco Women in Science & Engineering, along with WIE ILC and Cisco DevNet, will host a micro-hackathon for technology enthusiasts on 23 May 2016 in Salon I-III at the San Jose Marriott, 301 S Market Street. Participants will solve problems in Software Defined Networking (SDN), Architecture, Networking Programmability, or Cloud Collaboration. The event is free, but registration is required.
