SPOKANE, Wash.--()--Ecova, a leading energy and sustainability management company, announced today that it has been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with the 2016 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year - Sustained Excellence Award. This marks the 12th consecutive year that Ecova has received an award for continued leadership in protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency achievements. Ecova’s accomplishments will be recognized in Washington, D.C. on April 13, 2016.

Ecova, an ENERGY STAR participant since 2004, will be honored for its Strategic Program Management Services and Energy Management Services, such as benchmarking energy performance for over 55,000 buildings in ENERGY STAR’s Portfolio Manager each month. In 2015, Ecova was recognized as an ENERGY STAR Top Certifier for exceeding 150 ENERGY STAR certifications in 2014. In 2015, Ecova helped certify over 300 buildings. Additionally, Ecova currently provides 24/7 support to nearly 11,000 buildings, including monitoring, processing, and managing over nine million energy management system (EMS) client alarms and alerts each year.

“Ecova truly values our long-standing relationship with ENERGY STAR,” said Jana Schmidt, chief executive officer for Ecova. “The leading businesses of the future will actively use strategies to reduce their use of resources and reinvent industrial and manufacturing processes in a way that will drive financial, operational and reputational results.”

Since its inception in 1992, the ENERGY STAR program has helped prevent more than 2.4 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions. In 2014 alone, ENERGY STAR and its partners provided more than $11 billion in societal benefit by reducing damages from climate change1.

“By continued collaboration with ENERGY STAR, Ecova is helping Americans save money, save energy, and do their part to reduce our nation’s greenhouse gas emissions that exacerbate climate change,” said EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy. “I’m proud to recognize Ecova with the highest form of ENERGY STAR recognition, as the winner of the 2016 Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award. Ecova demonstrates a strong commitment to energy efficiency and to preserving a healthy planet for future generations.”

The 2016 Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Awards are given to a variety of organizations to recognize their contributions to reducing carbon pollution through superior energy efficiency efforts. These awards recognize ongoing leadership across the ENERGY STAR program, including energy-efficient products, services, new homes, and buildings in the commercial, industrial, and public sectors.
