ORLANDO, Fla.--()--Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: ARW) won the “Innovation of the Year” award yesterday at the Lean & Six Sigma World Conference, the leading conference on business process improvement.

Arrow won for its Lean Sigma Global Logistics Olympics program, which brings together Arrow logistics teams from the Americas, Europe and Asia to compete in fun, continuous-improvement, Olympics-themed events aimed at integrating Lean Sigma culture and methodologies into their daily work. The award is given to teams that have done something new and innovative with the Lean or Six Sigma methodology.

“Arrow Electronics is always looking for ways to improve its global logistics processes and services to better meet the needs of our customers and suppliers,” said Tim Kolbus, vice president of Arrow’s global logistics business. “This award recognizes Arrow's leadership role in guiding innovation forward in the technology supply chain.”

Arrow logistics employees generated over $1 million in cost savings through Lean Sigma Global Olympics events in 2015. Arrow is expanding this successful project to additional employees in 2016.

Arrow’s global logistics services business helps to create a competitive advantage for customers with tailored supply chain solutions, best-in-class global capabilities and excellence in execution. Customers can benefit from improved efficiency, flexibility, scalability and reliability; reduced risk and total costs; and an improved ability to focus on critical priorities while Arrow handles their logistics function.

The Lean & Six Sigma Conference attracts international and national experts on topics including innovation, process improvement and value creation that play a major role in improving efficiencies, increasing profitability and improving customer experience across a variety of industries. In addition to Arrow’s award win, the Dr. Pepper Snapple group took home the Lean & Six Sigma “Deployment of the Year” award and Haworth and the Holland Rescue Mission took home “Project of the Year.”
