Digital Lumens Honored by LEDs Magazine with Sapphire Award: Illumineer of the Year

Chief Technology Officer Brian Chemel and Product Team Win for Intelligent Lighting Portfolio

BOSTON--()--Digital Lumens, the market leader in intelligent LED lighting, was honored by LEDs Magazine with the illustrious “Illumineer of the Year” Sapphire Award. CTO Brian Chemel, along with the Digital Lumens LightRules® Team, were recognized for bringing smart lighting to more than 300 million square feet of commercial and industrial space, providing unprecedented levels of operational and business insight to customers in 45 countries.

Chemel co-founded Digital Lumens with a vision that the lighting industry would benefit from intelligent lighting – for efficiency, control, human-centric benefits, and more. Chemel and his team believed that by integrating sensing and control into fixtures – a natural and ubiquitous element in any building type – buildings could attain maximum efficiency while also gaining new levels of intelligence that could help inform their operation.

The Sapphire Awards program is the first in the lighting industry to focus on the LED-based solid-state lighting (SSL) market from an enabling-technology and elegance-of-design perspective. The program considered more than 100 product nominees and individuals or teams for the prestigious Illumineer of the Year award. The judging process was handled by independent industry experts, and the Digital Lumens team was selected over other distinguished teams and products from Lumileds CSP and Kenall TekLink.

“On behalf of my team at Digital Lumens, we are honored to accept this award. It is further proof that the industry is recognizing the value of intelligence and networked lighting control,” said Chemel. “Smart lighting provides a multitude of benefits beyond savings and control. We’re thrilled to see our efforts and innovations making an impact.”

"Our award winners exemplify the true added value that LED technology can bring to many applications and exceed the functionality realized with legacy sources," said Maury Wright, Editor-in-Chief of LEDs Magazine. "Brian Chemel and the team at Digital Lumens should be very proud of their achievements."
