LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Neural Analytics, a medical device company focusing on developing devices and services to measure, diagnose and track brain health and concussions, announced the appointment of Dr. Neil A. Martin as chief medical officer.
As the chairman and W. Eugene Stern Professor in Neurosurgery in the UCLA Department of Neurosurgery, Dr. Martin comes to Neural Analytics with extensive experience in research and treatment of brain injury and neurovascular disorders, including aneurysm, stroke and arteriovenous malformation. Under Dr. Martin’s leadership, the UCLA Neurovascular Program has become recognized as one of the leading centers in the world for the management of vascular diseases of the brain and spinal cord. With more than three decades in medicine, he has published more than 200 research articles in some of the most respected medical journals and given more than 300 medical lectures at neurosurgical meetings and conferences throughout the world.
“Dr. Martin is one of the foremost experts in neurosurgical critical care and we are honored to have him as part of Neural Analytics team during this time of amazing growth for the company,” said Leo Petrossian, Ph.D., co-founder and chief executive officer of Neural Analytics. “As an internationally renowned neurosurgeon, Dr. Martin is sought after for his surgical skills and in-depth knowledge of the complexities and healing properties of the brain. He will be a vital part of our team as we develop tools that allow for the accurate diagnosis of concussion, stroke and other neurovascular problems.”
Neural Analytics and Dr. Martin are currently developing the company’s first medical device that will allow medical professionals to accurately assess mild to severe traumatic brain injury, including concussions, by combining leading edge data science with established medical hardware.
“Throughout my career, I have seen how devastating traumatic brain injury can be to children and adults, and the on-going need for precise concussion diagnosis,” said Dr. Martin. “When I learned Neural Analytics’ breakthrough technology has the potential to pathophysiologically, accurately and objectively diagnose mild to severe traumatic brain injury, I knew this could be transformative for millions of people. I am excited to work with this team as they continue to develop this vital technology as well as new, potential next-generation technologies for the diagnosis and possible prevention of stroke and vascular dementia.”
