Avametric, Fashion Software Startup, Announces $10.5 Million in Funding Led by Khosla Ventures

Digital Technology Company Fuses Silicon Valley, Hollywood and Fashion to Bridge Omnichannel Retail Experiences

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Avametric, a leading fashion software company that fuses technology and talent from Silicon Valley, Hollywood, and the fashion industry announced today that it has raised $10.5 million to help fund the development of its proprietary software platform. This includes a recent Series A funding round led by Khosla Ventures. Khosla Ventures Partner Keith Rabois and Google’s VP, Head of Project Aura, Ivy Ross have joined Avametric’s Board of Directors. Avametric’s previous seed funding was also lead by Khosla Ventures and included participation from Y-Combinator, among others.

Avametric provides users with incredibly accurate 3D images showing how any item of clothing will fit on their own body. This virtually recreated fitting room enables brands to optimize omnichannel retail experiences by creating a seamless connection between consumers and online merchandise, helping them more effectively convert online and reduce returns.

Avametric’s virtually recreated fitting room enables brands to optimize omnichannel retail experiences by creating a seamless connection between consumers and online merchandise, helping them more effectively convert customers online and reduce returns.

“Ecommerce is arguably one of the most important growth vehicles in retail,” said Ari Bloom, CEO of Avametric. “Until now, brands have been lacking the tools to rival the physical retail experience. With Avametric, brands can recreate the real world fitting room experience online, and offer new services to customers such as fully customized virtual look books to further create new ways to leverage the untapped retail potential of the internet.”

Avametric’s technology has been in development for 4 years, after Founder and CTO David Jackson recognized how the same algorithms that allow a robotic car to understand its 3D environment can be used to understand the shape of a human being, which serves as a starting point to accurately simulate how a garment will fit. Jackson partnered with Academy Award-winning digital animator and computer scientist James O’Brien, Avametric’s co-founder and Chief Science Officer, to develop the company’s core technology. The company’s executive bench is complemented with both technology and fashion industry experience with former Enjoy marketing head Ari Bloom serving as CEO, and fashion industry veteran Kendra Gratteri as Chief Customer Officer.

“Avametric’s technology is unmatched, and it’s their uniquely qualified team that can bring their vision to life,” said Khosla Partner Keith Rabois. “We have been waiting to see these three industries - Hollywood, technology and fashion - married together in a meaningful way, and Avametric is finally doing this.”
