Colorado Statewide Internet Portal Authority Announces CTO

Mike Whatley selected to lead partners in eGovernment growth

DENVER--()--The Colorado Statewide Internet Portal Authority (SIPA), the premier source of technology solutions for state and local governments, announced Mike Whatley as its first Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

As Chief Technology Officer, Mr. Whatley will identify new technologies and vendors, and determine best practices that will advance SIPA’s mission. He will interact with state agencies, local governments and technical staff to drive mobile and eGovernment growth, stability and cost-savings for Colorado governments, special districts and public education.

Mr. Whatley brings considerable knowledge and understanding of SIPA’s services and vendors. He has been involved as a customer with SIPA since its inception in 2004. Mr. Whatley has worked in information technology for the state’s government for 20 years, previously serving as Chief Information Officer for the Department of Regulatory Agencies and the Department of Natural Resources. He also worked in various senior executive roles at the Governor’s Office of Information Technology.

Before Mr. Whatley’s career with the state of Colorado, he worked in research, legal and federal contract roles implementing technology solutions for the Bureau of Indian Affairs, U.S. Geological Survey and the State of Wyoming. Mike has a Bachelor of Science degree and an Master of Science degree from Texas A & M University.
