MEXICO CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mexican Internet service provider (ISP), Pegaso Banda Ancha (PBA), announced completion of installation of more than 5,000 VSATs for Mexico’s Secretariat of Communications and Transportation (SCT) initiative, Connected Mexico. Committed to providing broadband and wifi connectivity to schools, health centers, community facilities, and government offices in rural and remote areas, Connected Mexico strives to ensure that 26 million Mexicans with little or no broadband access have high-speed connections to the Internet.
PBA took just four months to install 5,062 extremely remote sites at 362 locations in 29 states. Using the SCT’s Bicentario satellite, MEXSAT3, and a high-throughput gateway at its Toluca, Mexico, network operations center (NOC), this gateway not only supports Ku and C-band satellites, but is future proofed for next-generation, Ka-band high-performance satellites.
