Recovery Centers of America Acquires Lighthouse Recovery Center in Mays Landing, N.J.

Recovery Centers of America at Lighthouse to serve as the organization’s first substance use disorder treatment facility

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa.--()--Recovery Centers of America (RCA) today announced the acquisition of Lighthouse Recovery Center, a 53-bed drug and alcohol treatment facility based in Mays Landing, New Jersey, which will now be known as Recovery Centers of America at Lighthouse. Lighthouse is Joint Commission Accredited, offering inpatient and outpatient treatment and medically supervised detox.

“Lighthouse is a fantastic acquisition for RCA. Its residential treatment center in Mays Landing, coupled with its three satellite outpatient sites, enables us to offer world-class behavioral health treatment,” says Deni Carise, Ph.D., chief clinical officer for RCA. “We are thrilled to open Recovery Centers of America at Lighthouse and provide the community with a five-star patient experience, centered on evidence-based treatment options required to help those suffering rebuild and reclaim their lives, families, and futures.”

In commenting on the acquisition, J.P. Christen, chief operating officer of RCA said, “Our patients and their families engage with the treatment process at multiple levels of care for at least a full year, which helps them achieve meaningful recovery. Recovery Centers of America at Lighthouse will introduce our vision to the market, as we quickly build our national footprint of community-based treatment centers.”

The Lighthouse Recovery Center has been completely remodeled by over 40 contractors who transformed the facility from top to bottom in four weeks with a number of enhancements to improve the patient and family experience. In addition to five-star quality amenities, including new furniture, updated décor and gourmet dining and snack options, RCA will heavily invest in upgrading technology and clinical programs to meet the region’s increasing demand for substance use disorder treatment, while providing a structured continuum of care.

“We intend to treat our patients to an experience that equals five-star hotel living while providing a menu of individualized, proven-effective clinical services,” Carise continued. “Our patients will benefit from unprecedented personalized service to provide them with the treatment and support needed to successfully make this critical life transition, thereby empowering them to regain their self-worth.”

New Jersey is the epicenter of the national drug epidemic, hastened by the availability of cheap street heroin and prescriptions opioids. In 2014, some 1,310 New Jersey families lost loved ones to heroin, cocaine, and prescription drug-related deaths. Recovery Centers of America, which is opening treatment centers throughout the Northeast, announced it had raised $231.5 million from Deerfield Management in one of the largest early-stage healthcare raises in 2015.

According to RCA Founder and Chief Executive Officer Brian O’Neill, Lighthouse provides strategic detox and inpatient services that are desperately needed in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland. “Lighthouse represents our first key strategic acquisition in a growth plan that will open eight behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment centers in the next two years. Lighthouse will help achieve our goals of treating one million Americans and to tirelessly advocate for the estimated 22 million Americans suffering from substance use disorder.”
