Women Investment Professionals (WIP) Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary –
2016 Marks a Major Milestone

CHICAGO--()--Women Investment Professionals (WIP) announced that 2016 is its 20th anniversary as the leading non-profit organization in the Midwest focused on providing professional development events, educational workshops, valuable networking opportunities and charity events for women working in the institutional investment industry.

The organization kicked-off this celebratory year with an Economic Outlook panel discussion in February that featured the CIOs from Northern Trust and Manulife as well as senior-level executives from the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and Mercer. The high-quality events will continue in 2016 as WIP announces that Jana Schreuder, the Chief Operating Officer for Northern Trust, will be serving as the keynote speaker at WIP’s flagship event – The Annual Trailblazer Dinner – to be held on October 27, 2016.

Bonnie Stanfield, President of Women Investment Professionals and a Consultant Relations Director at Putnam Investments said: "All of us on the Board are committed to facilitating powerful exchanges of ideas and best practices for women working in this extremely challenging and competitive field. We believe in the importance of providing a platform for successful female role models to share their professional knowledge with younger women entering this industry.”

WIP began as "Women in Pensions" and has since changed its name to "Women Investment Professionals" to reflect the changing nature of the institutional investment industry – which encompasses Endowment and Foundations, Defined Contribution Plans, and other players in this marketplace. The organization has grown to 300+ members and has a steady roster of roughly ten events each year, including the aforementioned Trailblazer Dinner, which features industry renown speakers and WIP presents the distinguished Woman Professional of the Year Award, which recognizes a woman in the industry who has made the most outstanding contributions and accomplishments.

Founded in 1996 by Joanne Hickman Dodd, SVP of Relationship Management at Capital Group, and Carla Straeten, Senior Vice President and Managing Director at PNC Capital Advisors, Dodd commented: "We established WIP to offer women from all constituencies in the institutional investment business a means to learn, network and exchange ideas. Both Carla and I are both thrilled to see the organization thriving after 20 years."
