BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--On Thursday, February 25, at 1–5 p.m., NEJM Catalyst will produce a live web event titled Patient Engagement: Behavioral Strategies for Better Health. Hosted by the Center for Health Incentives and Behavioral Economics at the University of Pennsylvania, the event will provide expert insight and real-world examples on ways to improve the quality and value of health care through patient engagement.
The event will feature eleven preeminent business and clinical experts, with in-depth knowledge of behavioral psychology, habit formation, behavioral economics, and social marketing, who will provide scalable, actionable ideas on how to motivate patients to take an active role in optimizing their health. Experts will share their perspectives on ways to change patients’ health behavior that can be used across a wide range of clinical contexts.

The event will include three separate sessions, with viewers encouraged to submit questions online for the Q&A portion of each session. The sessions are:
- Health Behavior and Habits: A leading health care entrepreneur and a psychologist with expertise in habit formation will discuss practical approaches and the latest thinking on what works.
- Lessons from Other Industries on Changing Behavior: A leading behavioral economist and a social marketing expert will describe experience in other contexts, such as retirement savings.
- Benefit Design and Incentives, Patients’ Health Behavior: Three experts will provide insights into how benefit design can be used to keep people healthy instead of only treating them once they get sick.
