Media Advisory: Fidelis Cybersecurity Presenting at B-Sides San Francisco

“Sucker-Punching Malware: A Case Study in Using Bad Malware Design Against Attackers”

WALTHAM, Mass.--()--Seasoned threat researchers from Fidelis Cybersecurity, the leading provider of solutions and services for detecting and stopping advanced cyberattacks, will be presenting at B-Sides San Francisco.

We invite threat researchers, security experts and media to learn more about critical design features within JSocket, a commercial subscription-based Remote Access Trojan (RAT). Attackers used this RAT, and its predecessor, AlienSpy, to compromise PCs and Android phones at businesses and government agencies worldwide. Based on news reports, AlienSpy may have even played a role in a political assassination. AlienSpy was taken offline shortly after the publication of a Fidelis Threat Advisory in April 2015. In the last few weeks, using research from Kaspersky Lab and Fidelis Cybersecurity, JSocket was also taken down. This interactive session will explore how researchers can exploit inherent design flaws to dismantle ‘RAT-nets’ involving commercial Remote Access Trojans.
