BARCELONA, Spain--()--Lenovo (SEHK:0992) (Pink Sheets:LNVGY) today announced a new global wireless roaming service called Lenovo Connect. A long-time mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), Lenovo will now offer Lenovo Connect, a seamless communication service that works across devices, networks and borders for customers in China and EMEA. Lenovo Connect eliminates having to buy a separate SIM card and offers benefits such as low-priced global roaming and enhanced customer engagement by leveraging Lenovo’s Big Data and cloud services. It provides a simple, fast and cost-effective connectivity solution for companies of all sizes and mobile professionals to stay always connected.

In China, Lenovo is bringing service via the Lenovo Connect app on select Lenovo smartphones and laptops. With just one click, users can access Lenovo Connect to enjoy local pricing on Internet access when they travel to more than 50 countries around the world. In China, Lenovo’s first products to feature Lenovo Connect will be the LeMeng X3 smartphone and MIIX 700 tablet.

In EMEA, Lenovo is working with channel partners to bring Lenovo Connect to customers in a variety of Lenovo ThinkPad devices. Initially available in 45 EMEA markets, Lenovo Connect users will be able to enjoy secure data connectivity at competitive rates. Lenovo Connect will be supported by customized data plans designed to support both domestic and international roaming use in more than 110 countries globally.

Lenovo has been building its MVNO capabilities as one of the world’s largest MVNOs with 11 million users today. With more than 400 million cloud services users, Lenovo Connect expands upon Lenovo’s smart connection strategy to integrate cloud services and communications channels with devices.

“With the dawn of 5G and the Internet of Things, we expect to see the telecom market expand exponentially,” said Wang Shuai, vice president, Lenovo, and general manager, Understanding Telecom. “Lenovo Connect and our MVNO services will help move us into the new, globally connected world by creating a seamless smart connection across networks, services and devices."
