U.S. Bank Taps Mark Jorgenson to Lead Community Banking

Tim Petty promoted to succeed him as market president in Kansas City

MINNEAPOLIS & KANSAS CITY, Mo.--()--Veteran banker and community leader Mark Jorgenson has been named head of U.S. Bank Community Banking. He will lead the bank’s 1,140 branch offices and 10,000 employees located in non-metropolitan communities throughout U.S. Bank’s 25-state footprint.

Jorgenson built his career at U.S. Bank, most recently serving as a regional president leading commercial business banking in Kansas City and St. Louis. Jorgenson has been a banker in Kansas City for as long as he has been with U.S. Bank and its predecessor companies, where he started in June 1981.

Succeeding him as market president in Kansas City will be Tim Petty, a 25-year commercial banking veteran, who has been with U.S. Bank since 2000. Prior to this promotion, Petty was senior vice president for commercial banking in Kansas City, reporting to Jorgenson and directly managing the bank’s commercial banking team in the market.

“Tim is highly respected in our community as he has been very active as a leader in multiple business and nonprofit activities in Kansas City,” Jorgenson said. “He is well known to our customers and is someone who advocates for the bank's clients, keeping their best interests at heart.”

Jorgenson will continue to be based in Kansas City, and will remain active in the community and local industry affairs. Jorgenson serves on a number of boards, including: The Civic Council of Greater Kansas City, Kansas Venture Capital, Inc. (KVCI), Hunt Midwest Enterprises, Midwest Research Institute, KU Hospital Authority, National World War I Museum, The Kansas City Chiefs, Heart of America Council Boy Scouts, Urban Neighborhood Initiative and University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Jorgenson graduated with Phi Beta Kappa honors from Coe College and received an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis. He and his wife, Mary, live in Kansas City and have four grown children.
