Union Bank & Trust Selects Prairie Cloudware’s Digital Payments Guardian

$3.2 billion bank leverages platform to power mobile wallet to meet customers’ demand for choice, convenience and security in payments

OMAHA, Neb.--()--Prairie Cloudware, an innovator in omnichannel digital payments services, today announced that Nebraska-based Union Bank & Trust (UBT) selected its Digital Payments Guardian™. The solution will power a UBT-branded mobile wallet that offers customers a safe and simple way to purchase goods with their digital devices.

The Digital Payments Guardian acts as a digital vault, providing customers with an easy way to use and manage all payment types - from DDA accounts to credit, debit, store and gift cards. The solution will be deployed in a SaaS environment using a private cloud computing environment, which lowers the cost of entry and speeds time to market for UBT’s mobile payments platform. Digital Payments Guardian provides a seamless customer experience by integrating with the bank’s payments processing services and acting as an extension of its digital channel. UBT will use Digital Payments Guardian to support its mobile wallet for Android users, positioning its Visa cards as a convenient and secure top of wallet option.

“Our customers want convenience, control and security when they purchase goods and services, and they expect us to provide these options,” said Alan Fosler, senior vice president at UBT. “As digital devices increasingly become the tool of choice for simplifying the complexities of life, we want to give our customers an easier, safer way to pay. Prairie Cloudware’s Digital Payments Guardian will facilitate tokenization of payment and personal data making it safer for the many customers we have who have Android phones to use their debit cards to make payments.” Prairie Cloudware and UBT intend to offer the same services to iPhone users once Apple opens up its ecosystem to developers outside their company.

Doug Parr, chief revenue officer of Prairie Cloudware, added, “The mobile payments revolution is in its very earliest days and mainstream adoption depends on financial institutions taking the lead. In studies across the industry, consumers have repeatedly indicated that they prefer to consume mobile payments via the existing relationships they have with their banks. They consider these institutions to be a trusted source that have already proven to be secure and compliant with regulatory standards. Our Digital Payments Guardian allows regional organizations to deploy mobile payment services without needing a staff of thousands and an eight figure technology budget. UBT is proving that point.”
