2016 Project Perseverance Call for Nominations

KANSAS CITY, Mo.--()--Assurant Employee Benefits is seeking heroes of the heart, mind and spirit to honor through its Project Perseverance program. Deserving recipients can be nominated online at www.ProjectPerseverance.com through Jan. 31, 2016.

“Project Perseverance is a platform through which we share the stories of people who inspire us by the way they have handled extreme adversity,” said Joe Sevcik, senior vice president of marketing at Assurant Employee Benefits, an employee benefits and services provider. “Our honorees instill the belief in all of us that we can persevere through even the toughest moments of our lives.”

Assurant Employee Benefits is calling for nominations of people who embody strength, courage and perseverance to join the prestigious list of honorees. Nominees must be U.S. residents who have beaten incredible odds to become inspirational forces in society. Learn more at www.ProjectPerseverance.com. The nomination process takes only a few minutes.

Recent inductees into the Perseverance Hall of Fame include U.S. Army veteran J.R. Martinez who survived severe burns from an Iraqi roadside bomb and later became an accomplished actor, writer and motivational speaker; Charity Tillemann-Dick, an opera star who released a No. 1 classical album after two double lung transplants; and Deliece Hofen, a mom and breast cancer survivor who formed a pediatric cancer research foundation after helping her young son battle two rare forms of the disease.

Other extraordinary individuals who have been recognized for their resilience include mountain climber and amputee Aron Ralston, Senator Bob Dole, Rwanda genocide survivor Gilbert Tuhabonye and Paralympic skier Chris Waddell. Through Project Perseverance, formerly known as the Shining Star of Perseverance Awards, Assurant Employee Benefits recognizes survivors who have overcome severe accidents, illnesses or injuries to give hope to others facing difficult life challenges.

A Perseverance Panel—including past recipients, industry leaders and the general public—will help select the honorees to be recognized in 2016. In recognition, Assurant Employee Benefits will provide a financial donation to a qualified nonprofit of the honorees’ choice.
