Gurucul Named Finalist for Best Behavior Analytics Platform in SC Magazine 2016 Trust Awards

User Behavior Analytics Platform Can Detect Identity-based Threats including Insider Abuse and Account Hijacking by Outsiders

LOS ANGELES--()--Gurucul, the user behavior analytics and identity access intelligence company, today announced that it has been recognized as a Trust Award finalist in the Best Behavior Analytics/Enterprise Threat Detection category for the 2016 SC Awards. The finalists and winners for the newly revamped Trust Awards (formerly Reader Trust Awards) are chosen by a distinguished group of leading IT security professionals from the SC Magazine readership and selected by the SC editorial team. Winners will be announced at the SC Awards 2016 ceremony to be held March 1, 2016 in San Francisco.

“Being named a finalist in the Best Behavior Analytics/Enterprise Threat Detection category of the 2016 SC Awards provides further validation of our technology and market leadership position in this emerging security category,” said Saryu Nayyar, CEO of Gurucul. “Gurucul has pioneered innovations including user profiling and behavior anomaly detection that combine dynamic peer groups with machine learning and time-based norms. These advances enable our solution to detect threats that go undetected by most UBA tools using static peer groups and rule sets.”

Identity has become the primary threat surface for data center and cloud apps. Detecting and preventing these attacks, by insiders or outsiders, requires the convergence of Identity Access Intelligence (IAI) and User Behavior Analytics (UBA). Gurucul combines IAI to reduce excess access rights that open the door to phishing and account compromise attacks, and UBA to perform user profiling and behavior anomaly detection to identify account abuse, hijacking and suspicious activity. The Gurucul GRA platform transforms identity from a poorly managed and often open attack surface to a security perimeter.

“Gurucul has demonstrated that they are among the best in the industry at user behavior analytics,” said Illena Armstrong, VP, editorial, SC Magazine. “Being a Trust Award nominee is a special honor as it demonstrates that you are at the top of your game, and your peers know it.”

The SC Awards, now in its 19th year, are recognized throughout the security industry as the gold standard of excellence in cybersecurity. With the awards, SC Magazine recognizes the achievements of security professionals in the field, the innovations happening in the vendor and service provider communities, and the vigilant work of government, commercial and nonprofit entities. Vendors and service providers which offer a product and/or service for the commercial, government, educational, nonprofit or other industries are eligible for the SC Awards’ Trust Award category.

Gurucul is the only vendor to meet all five use cases and the compliance and fraud qualifications in the Market Guide for User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA) recently published by Gartner, Inc.: http://gurucul.com/gartner-ueba-market-guide
