2015 Comp Laude Award Winners Announced in Burbank, CA by WorkCompCentral

CAMARILLO, Calif.--()--WorkCompCentral acknowledged winners for their outstanding contributions to the workers’ compensation industry at the 4th Annual Comp Laude Awards and Gala Saturday at the Burbank Marriott Airport Hotel. Comp Laude, with a slight play on the words “cum laude” from our higher learning institutions, simply means “with honor.”

“Our mission with the Comp Laude Awards and Gala is to show the world what is right with the workers’ compensation industry,” said WorkCompCentral’s President and CEO David DePaolo. “Our industry gets so much negative press, so we’ve designed these awards with rigorous judging protocols in place, to identify the best of the best.”

Co-sponsored by Sedgwick Claims Management Services, the Comp Laude Awards were presented to individuals representing all segments of the workers’ compensation industry, including claims adjusters, attorneys, medical and insurance professionals, even injured workers. Awards were presented in seven categories. The top award winners include:

Cedar Fair – Employer Comp Laude
Maureen Gallagher, Assured Neace Lukens – Individual Comp Laude
Kenneth Black – Injured Worker Comp Laude
Artemis Emslie, myMatrixx – Leadership Comp Laude
Hon. Colleen Casey, WCAB, San Francisco – Legal Comp Laude
Kathryn Mueller, MD; Colorado Division of Workers’ Compensation – Medical Comp Laude
Ascential Care Partners, LLC – Service Comp Laude

An additional two top honor awards were also presented. Becky Curtis, an injured worker who started Take Courage Coaching, received the Magna Comp Laude (with great honor) award, and Alex Swedlow, president of California Workers’ Compensation Institute, was presented with the Summa Comp Laude (with highest honor) award.

“Workers’ compensation is a dynamic and ever-evolving industry,” said DePaolo. “We want to recognize those people who do good things and help the system run smoothly. At the same time, we want to remind folks that our workers’ compensation system is the largest privatized social benefit system in the world.”

Next year’s Comp Laude Awards and Gala event is scheduled for the first week in November. Visit ww3.workcompcentral.com or call 805-484-0333 for details.
