Counsyl Wins World Technology Network Award

Counsyl awarded the 2015 winner of the Health and Medicine category

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Counsyl, a health technology company that offers DNA screening for diseases that can impact women, men and their children, has been announced as the winner of the World Technology Award in the Health and Medicine category. Award recipients were selected by the World Technology Network (WTN) – a global community comprised of the most innovative people and organizations at the forefront of science and technology and related fields.

“We are proud of our efforts in bringing breakthrough clinical services to physicians and patients and making genetic screening more broadly accessible,” said Ramji Srinivasan, co-founder and CEO at Counsyl. “Our team has been at the forefront of evolving laboratory processes and results delivery and this recognition reinforces our work to help empower people to have access to meaningful information about their health.”

Counsyl’s advancements in making genetic screening more broadly accessible were key to its selection as the winner of the Health and Medicine category. Counsyl has built a modern clinical lab enabling them to deliver more accurate, faster and more affordable genetic screens. This year, the company reached a key milestone of 500,000 patients screened.

Award winners were revealed at the WTN’s 14th annual World Technology Summit & Awards event, held at the historic TIME & LIFE Building in New York City. The World Technology Summit & Awards is a global gathering that brings together many of the world’s leading technologists, scientists, futurists, policymakers, and entrepreneurs. Counsyl’s Director of Women’s Health, Shivani Nazareth, spoke on a panel at the event about the importance of genetic screening when planning for a family.

Counsyl was selected as the winner among other leaders in their fields, including Oculus, SeedInvest, Aerofarms and SoundHound. Each year, the WTN recognizes the best and brightest in their fields and the organizations on the cutting edge of technological innovation. Thirty awards across all industries – from art and design to health and medicine to space – were presented at the summit.
