Envision Healthcare, Pager and Children’s Health Fund Join Forces to Improve Healthcare Access to Those in Need

Partnership Commits to Providing a Free Children’s Health Screening for Each Flu Shot Administered This Week

Pager Also Announces Launch of Pager Cares, Its Charitable Healthcare Initiative

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo.--()--Underserved children across America will have access to a free well-care screening during their next pediatrician visit thanks to a humanitarian partnership between Envision Healthcare (NYSE:EVHC) (Envision), Pager and Children’s Health Fund.

Beginning today, in support of National Influenza Vaccination Awareness Week, Pager and Envision, which together comprise the nation's leading on-demand healthcare provider, are offering up to 5,000 free flu shots in six major U.S. cities both through Pager’s mobile app as well as through local community services. For each vaccination delivered, Pager Cares, Pager’s charitable division launching in tandem with the initiative, will provide one healthcare screening to underserved children across the country through the Children’s Health Fund’s national fleet of mobile medical units.

Pager Cares will use innovative technology to disseminate flu shots delivered by medical professionals from Envision Healthcare in New York, Dallas, San Francisco, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa and San Diego.

At-risk groups often face the greatest healthcare threats due to lack of access to healthcare providers, medicine and treatment programs. Utilizing Pager’s customized patient-centric care model, this initiative will influence better public health outcomes for all, according to Gaspard de Dreuzy, founder and CEO of Pager.

“We are proud to have partnered with two outstanding organizations, Children’s Health Fund and Envision, both of which are working to help close the healthcare gap by bringing high quality medical services to the underserved,” said de Dreuzy. “We see this partnership as not only our responsibility to the community, but as the future of how technology can impact the public health issues we face.”

“At Children’s Health Fund, we deliver healthcare access to children and their families no matter what their means,” said Dennis Walto, the organization’s executive director. “We are so grateful to Pager and Envision for helping us to continue carrying out this mission through Pager Cares. We know the importance of vaccinations for all, and love that by taking this simple step, our kids will receive a doctor’s care they need and deserve for a healthy future. We encourage everyone to take a shot, and help a tot, through this campaign!"

“Improving the health of populations, especially the high-risk and underserved, through team-based delivery and innovative strategies is a key focus at Envision Healthcare,” added Dr. Eric Beck, CEO of Evolution Health, the mobile integrated healthcare division of Envision. “We applaud Children’s Health Fund and Pager Cares for their commitment to improving access to healthcare for all and thank Pager for developing progressive technology tools that allow our nearly 40,000 providers to extend their clinical reach to those in greatest need.”

Through Pager Cares, Pager will offer free, on-demand access to health services such as primary care, vaccinations, and testing to underserved populations, both directly and through partnerships with Envision Healthcare and other organizations. In future programming, Pager will strive to educate people about free and low-cost care options and pursue technology-driven initiatives that allow for self-care and earlier disease detection.

Pager Cares’ initial launch taking place this week will focus on three primary programs:

  • Free Flu Shots in Six Cities: Flu shots will be available for free via the Pager app in six cities, all week long. These cities are New York, San Francisco, San Diego, Dallas, Tampa and Fort Lauderdale.
  • Healthcare Visits for Kids in Need: For every shot Pager and Envision deliver next week, Pager Cares will furnish a child in need with a screening as part of their next healthcare provider visit via Children's Health Fund.
  • Flu Clinics at Community Centers: In our six cities, Pager and Envision will also run free flu shot clinics at schools, homeless shelters and community centers throughout next week for those in need.

Children’s Health Fund

Children’s Health Fund was created in 1987 in response to an unacceptable situation. For thousands of kids packed into New York City’s homeless shelters, their chance for the future was dim. That inspired singer/songwriter Paul Simon and pediatrician/child advocate Irwin Redlener, MD, to do something life-changing for these children. Adequate medical care was an essential first step in helping them to be healthy and ready to learn, to have dreams and the hope of achieving them. Today, Children’s Health Fund has 50 mobile clinics, each a “doctor’s offices on wheels,” serving hundreds of locations across the country. And, over the past 26 years, the organization has grown to support almost 250,000 health care visits each year for disadvantaged children. For more information, visit childrenshealthfund.org.
