COMMERCE TWP., Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--UglyChristmasSweater.com, a Michigan-based leading specialty online retailer of tacky and trendy seasonal apparel, has announced a new fundraising partnership with 14 fashion designers and veteran contestants of the hit Bravo/Lifetime Network reality show, Project Runway. Each designer created a custom, one-of-a-kind hideous holiday sweater – some for people and others for pooches – to be auctioned off online this December, with 100 percent of proceeds benefiting non-profits organizations.
The auction, which will be supported by Bidding for Good, a charitable e-commerce company that connects fundraisers, cause-conscious shoppers, and socially responsible businesses, will begin Monday, December 7 at 8 a.m. at www.uglychristmassweater.com/projectrunway and will remain live through December 18 at 10 p.m.
Eight of the 14 participating designers from the hit competition series have created a unique and ugly holiday sweater to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). Launched in 1993, the BCRF provides funding for research efforts around the world, and to-date has raised more than half a billion dollars to help advance the world's most promising research to prevent and cure breast cancer.
Six additional designers will each create a one-of-a-kind ugly holiday dog sweater, with auction proceeds benefitting Leave No Paws Behind, a California-based all breed, all foster-based dog rescue specializing in comfort and care for senior, terminally-ill and special medical needs animals.
