NEW YORK--()--JJ Miller has been named Executive Producer, Video for Time Inc.’s People and Entertainment Weekly. In this newly created role, Miller will oversee all aspects of People and EW video programming across their digital platforms, and she will develop TV and other brand extensions, reporting directly to Jess Cagle, Editorial Director of People and EW. In this position, she will also work closely with Ian Orefice, Executive Producer of Time Inc. News and Sports and the Time Inc. central video team, the editorial teams and ad sales. She will manage a sizable staff, which will include existing staff members and new hires. Miller will be based in New York and will begin on December 7.

“JJ Miller is one of the most respected—and beloved—news and entertainment executives in our industry, with experience in online video, broadcasting, radio and print,” said Cagle. “This is a critical role that reflects how video and related brand extensions have become a cornerstone of our business.”

“I am thrilled to join People and EW—two brands I’ve long admired—at a moment of such exciting innovation in video at Time Inc.,” said Miller. “I believe that Time Inc. is looking at the future of media with their eyes wide open to what’s possible—and profitable—and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”

“In October, People.com generated nearly 23 million video streams, a Time Inc. record,” said Rich Battista, President, People and Entertainment Weekly. “With online video a key part of the People and EW growth strategies, we are investing heavily in the medium—with nearly 50 video series in production or in development across both brands—while also ramping up television development. Both People and EW will air TV specials before the end of the year, with many more series and specials in development for 2016.”

Miller served as an executive producer at SiriusXM in 2012, where she was a leader of talk programming and was instrumental in launching the successful Entertainment Weekly channel. Throughout her impressive career, she has demonstrated a valuable and unique talent for bringing existing brands to other mediums; as special projects director at O/Harpo (2007–2010), she oversaw projects in print, television, radio and digital; as producer of The Gayle King Show on Oprah Radio (2009–2011), Miller generated two hours of daily content, ranging from segments on politics and health to celebrity interviews, and she managed the launch of the show’s website.

Most recently, Miller played a key role in launching Katie Couric Productions, where she developed projects for various platforms and consulted on Yahoo staffing, digital production, social promotion and distribution. Previously, she helped launch The Huffington Post’s groundbreaking eight-hour block of video programming, and as HuffPost Live’s deputy executive producer, she oversaw all celebrity segments.

Miller grew up in Virginia and earned a BA in journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She lives in Manhattan with her husband and four-year-old daughter.
