LOS GATOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tigo®, the smart module market leader, today announced that Mike Splinter is joining its Board of Directors.

Mike Splinter was president and chief executive officer of Applied Materials from 2003 to 2013 and chairman of the board from 2009 to June 2015. Splinter is a 40-year veteran of the semiconductor industry and led Applied Materials to record revenue and profits during his tenure. Prior to joining Applied Materials, Mike was an executive at Intel Corporation.
Splinter, a recipient of the Robert Noyce award, is serving on the boards of the NASDAQ Group and the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. He fulfills his commitment to education by sitting on the board of the University of Wisconsin Foundation. Splinter earned both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has also received an honorary Doctorate degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin.
