Providence Medical Technology Enhances Cervical Fusion Process with Introduction of Proprietary Surface Technology to DTRAX Line of Tissue-Sparing Devices

LAFAYETTE, Calif.--()--Providence Medical Technology, Inc., an innovator in tissue-sparing cervical spine technology, today introduced its proprietary Cavux™ surface technology, designed to speed bone fusion during the healing process. The company’s portfolio of DTRAX® Cervical Cage implants will be available with Cavux, a unique surface technology that produces micro-textures on titanium surfaces. The micro- and nano-textures created across the implant surface area serve to enhance the fusion process.

Macro-textures favor mechanical anchorage by increasing the surface area of the implant to enhance primary fixation to bone. Micro- and nano-textures promote osteoblastic (bone) cell adhesion during early healing stages after cervical fusion procedures.

“Surfacing technologies have delivered positive clinical results in orthopaedic and dental surgery to-date. Cavux surface technology was developed based on these successful principles, and we believe it has the potential to enhance cervical spine fusion when applied to our DTRAX product portfolio,” said Providence Chief Executive Officer Jeff Smith. “The addition of this exciting technology represents an important step towards our goal of becoming the most innovative company in cervical fusion.”

Providence will be exhibiting at the North American Spine Society annual meeting (NASS) on October 14-17, 2015 at Booth #623. The Cavux technology and DTRAX portfolio will be on display and demonstrated throughout the meeting by spine surgeons and company representatives.
