Mitsubishi Electric's Executive Corporate Advisor Dr. Nomakuchi Receives Prime Minister Award at 2015 Industrial Standardization Awards Ceremony

Recognized for outstanding contributions to Japan’s international standardization initiatives

TOKYO--()--Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (TOKYO: 6503) announced today that Executive Corporate Advisor Dr. Tamotsu Nomakuchi received the Prime Minister Award at the 2015 Industrial Standardization Awards ceremony organized by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. The event was held at the Toshi Center Hotel in Tokyo on October 5.

Dr. Nomakuchi contributed significantly to efforts to strengthen Japan’s international competitiveness as a member of the Intellectual Property Strategy Headquarters under the Prime Minister’s Cabinet from 2003 to 2007 and then again from 2009 to 2013. He promoted industrial standardization as a crucial component of Japan’s Intellectual Property Promotion Plan.

As president of the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee from 2009 to 2015, Dr. Nomakuchi also contributed to Japan’s standardization activities and international presence. In particular, under his leadership, the government and industry organized the very successful 2014 International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Tokyo General Meeting, the first such meeting in 15 years, to facilitate strong cooperation.
